Toe Nail Surgery

An ingrowing toe nail (onychocryptosis) occurs when the edge or corner of a nail cuts into the skin which can become painful, inflamed and infected.

If conservative management has been ineffective then a minor surgical procedure can be performed to remove the offending piece of nail.
A partial or total nail avulsion (removal) is achieved under a local anaesthetic, the section of nail is removed, and the nail matrix is destroyed with the use of a chemical (phenol) to prevent re-growth. Also included is redressing/review appointments.
